Here it is! The first runway DIY for Make It… Malibu ( and soon to be part of our F21 To Runway series ).
Voila! The Balmain bootie on the runway….
and the F21 To Runway finished bootie… which is a step up in the glam department. We live in Malibu and wanted a little more of a bohemian touch to the design which fits our rock and roll, yet beachy lifestyle.
Although this DIY looks complicated, it is painfully easy once you have everything you need.
**WATCH THE DIY VIDEO FOR THESE BOOTIES. The instructions are great but watching the process is important. We including some Malibu scenery and great music for you to enjoy every minute of this DIY!
I purchased the boots at Forever21. Hurry and get them
I purchased the appliques and rhinestone trim at Trim Expo in downtown Los Angeles.
You can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org and send them the pic above. If you would like the same ones I used in this project.
Once the glue was dry, I covered the shoe with plastic wrap and taped around the edges.
I lightly sanded the heels with the sanding block to scuff up the surface and absorb the black paint I was about to apply.
Painting the heels black is necessary for two reasons. #1. is so the light heel did not conflict with the embellishments of the bootie design and #2 The glossy black gives it the finishing - high glam/runway - touch.
Once the paint dried, I removed the plastic and went over the entire applique and rhinestone detail with a toothpick and glue for added protection of my F21 To Runway creation!
Always remember we have great DIY projects coming up every week so…
Rock n Rolla! - The question is : Who hasn’t seen these amazing short rhinestone boots on the Balmain runway for spring 2012?! I about fell over when I did knowing I just purchased a pair of black shorties similar to these at Forever 21 recently ( grab them
Now I finally got around to tackling my version of these rock stars…
